Aliens? Ancient, Current & Maybe

While the Ancient Astronaut theory began with Von Daniken, who first posited in 1968 that proof of alien visitation in our historical past is proven by examining ancient artifacts which cannot be explained by the technology at that time, leaves much to be desired.  We do not know how much our ancestors actually knew because wars, natural disasters & time have reduced to rubble much of their civilizations & the science they acquired.  Also, many artifacts, which could have bridged the current gap & explain the strange artifact,  have been stolen by thieves to sell over the centuries.

Just because something looks eerily similar to our modern counterpart, does not mean that aliens gave this technology to the inhabitants at that time.  The certainty that Von Daniken presents as his so-called evidence, goes along way toward the acceptance of AAT because further investigation is stalled by this easy explanation.  Sitchin is another theorist whose research has been called into serious question & much of his book series has been debunked, but we will investigate him further another time.
